A story that goes beyond survival.

In June 2021, during a military course, Brazilian Army Sergeant Francisco Edísio de Macedo Filho contracted COVID-19. Within days, about 85% of his lungs were compromised — and he entered 19 days of induced coma.

Outside, doctors fought for his body while a family held on through prayer. Inside, a spiritual experience he would never forget.

Waking up was only the beginning. This is the honest account of a man who had to learn again how to breathe, to walk and to live — sustained by his Catholic faith, his devotion to Our Lady and the love of his family.
